As we continue to grow—we’ve now reached one million members across Canada—we’re excited to share some important updates and new features designed to enhance your Poparide experience.

Mandatory Driver’s License Verification Starting June 1
Your safety is our priority. That’s why, starting June 1, 2024, drivers license verification will become a mandatory step for all drivers on Poparide. This new feature will help ensure that everyone you share a ride with has been properly vetted, keeping our community safe and trustworthy. You will be asked to verify your driver’s license on Poparide before you post a trip, and this process will only take you a few minutes.
Please note that we’ve recently updated our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy in line with this new driver’s license verification requirement.
Our First E-book: Carpooling is for Everyone
We are thrilled to announce the launch of our first ever e-book, which dives into the data from last year’s surveys and celebrates our milestone of reaching one million members. This e-book offers insights into the positive impact Poparide has on the economy, the environment and our communities. Be sure to check it out – it’s filled with fascinating findings and it’s our way of saying thank you for your ongoing support in the last nine years since we launched Poparide.
Increase of the Maximum Price Per Kilometre
In response to the rising gas prices across Canada, we are updating our maximum price per kilometre. Effective immediately, the maximum price will increase from 15 cents to 18 cents per kilometre. This adjustment will help drivers cover their costs while continuing to offer affordable travel options to our passengers.
New Feature: Report Inappropriate Behaviour
We’re committed to maintaining a respectful and safe environment for all our members. With our new reporting feature, you can now report any inappropriate behaviour directly from a member’s profile. Simply visit the member’s profile on our app and tap the “Report” button in the top right corner of the screen. This tool is part of our ongoing effort to ensure that Poparide remains a community where everyone feels comfortable and respected.

- 130,000 empty seats filled
- 3,900 metric tonnes of CO2 offset
- 25 million km shared
- $3.7 million of costs recovered by drivers
