"This was the scariest drive of my life. First, the license plate DID NOT MATCH the license plate on the app. I saw someone who looked like Okoli’s photo standing outside and the car looked like the picture and was full of other riders so I felt safe assuming that this was my poparide, but Okoli did not introduce himself or verify that I was indeed his passenger. I doubted my judgement when I got in the car.
He proceed to drive between 130-140 on the highway, getting really close to cars in front of him until they’d finally move out of the way. He was speaking on the phone the whole time and was using his phone way more than I was comfortable with, scrolling through Whatsapp contacts and even looking at images sent to him. It also seemed like he had another phone in his lap.
When we arrived at the Bayshore parking lot, one of the 4 stops, he did not stop at stop signs, at one point causing another car with right of way to brake hard and honk.
When we were on the highway going into downtown Ottawa during rush hour, he continued to drive way too fast for the amount of cars around us, and getting way too close to the cars in front of us. He was swerving out of lanes, and at one point used the space between merging lanes and the right-most lane as a makeshift lane to get ahead of cars. There was a car merging at the same time.
He also skipped a stop which was listed in the ride description, and when a passenger pointed this out began a short argument about the traffic and how it’s too hard to go back. He thankfully seemed to agree to drive her closer to her destination after the final stop.
This ride made me reconsider future use of poparide. This driver put all 7 passengers lives at risk, and the other drivers on the road."
