"The driver was dishonest about the seating arrangement. The listing stated five passengers, but there were actually seven of us, with three people squeezed into each row. I had to sit on a fold-down middle seat that also serves as a table.
I booked the ride specifically because the final stop listed in the trip matched my destination. At the second-to-last stop, all the other passengers got out. I stepped out to let the passengers in the back seats exit, but the driver then refused to let me back into the vehicle. He did not want to continue to the final stop and wanted to end the trip at the mall instead, even though my stop was clearly included in his listing.
When I tried to ask why he would not take me to the agreed destination, he physically pushed me aside and got into the driver’s seat. Only after I began photographing his licence plate did he start calling and messaging me, telling me to get back into the car so he could take me to the final stop. In the end, I did reach my destination, but only after all of this.
I paid $65 for this trip to Toronto. I was overcrowded on an improper seat, treated aggressively, and had serious difficulty getting the driver to complete the trip I had paid for. There is nothing positive to rate. His behaviour was aggressive, deeply concerning, and completely unacceptable toward a paying customer. He acted as though he were doing passengers a favour by driving them for free, despite charging $65.
For comparison, my return trip cost only $30. It was calm and comfortable, in a clean car with a professional and respectful driver.
This was my first bad experience with Poparide, and I could hardly believe it was happening. It felt like a nightmare."
