Full Stack Software Developer

At Poparide, we want to create a world where resources are shared to help preserve our planet in generations to come. We’ve built a city-to-city carpooling platform that helps fill empty seats in cars and makes travel more social, affordable and sustainable for everyone.

We’re looking for a Full-stack Software Developer to help us build the features which will lead us into our next phase of growth as we scale from our current 2 million members to 20 million members (and more!).

This is a rare opportunity to join a small but mighty product team at a key inflection point. You’ll work with other talented developers to execute on our product strategy and help scale our platform nationally and beyond.

We are a small, tight-knit team of 17 passionate people. We’re profitable, intentional about staying lean, and proud of our “small but mighty” approach. This role is for someone who’s hands-on, takes ownership, and isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves to make things happen with limited oversight and resources.

You have…

• 5+ years professional experience building RESTful APIs and backend services in Python/Django/PostgreSQL.
• 5+ years professional experience with React/React-Native.
• A track record of high-quality output and owning features from ideation to post-release. 
• A systems mindset, applying engineering principles to design and build reliable, scalable software.
• Patience, a great deal of empathy for users and team members alike, and persistence.
• Exemplary communication skills necessary to succeed in a small, cross-functional work environment.

Bonus points for having

• Experience in wireframing/designing features for mobile/web applications.
• Experience architecting, deploying and monitoring services in AWS.
• Experience managing roadmaps in Notion or GitHub
• Knowledge of French.

What you will be doing

• Build, ship and maintain features across all our platforms (Web, iOS, Android).
• Code reviews to ensure a consistently high quality of work across all platforms.
• Help us shape our processes to remain flexible and efficient as we continue to grow.
• Assist with recruitment efforts and onboarding of new team members.

Compensation & location

• Full-time, remote role within Ontario, with regular coworking in Toronto and Kitchener–Waterloo.
• Base salary starting at $140,000, plus profit-sharing. 
• Equity through the Employee Stock Options Plan (ESOP).
• 20 paid holiday days per year and another 10 paid statutory days off per year.
